A rich and comforting pasta dish made effortlessly in the slow cooker with tender chicken and creamy tomato sauce.
Ingredients
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
24.5 ounces marinara sauce
24.5 ounces water
16 ounces uncooked penne pasta
1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
1. Season the chicken breasts evenly and place in the slow cooker.
2. Pour marinara sauce over chicken and add water from the jar.
3. Cook on high for 3 to 4 hours until chicken is tender.
4. Remove and shred the chicken.
5. Return chicken to slow cooker and add pasta and cream.
6. Cook on low for 45 minutes to 1 hour until pasta is tender.
7. Serve warm.
Notes
Stir occasionally during the final cooking stage to prevent sticking.
Add extra cream if needed for a looser sauce.
Optional red pepper flakes add mild heat.
