Description
Creamy turkey sausage gravy served over warm fluffy biscuits for a comforting homemade breakfast.
Ingredients
1 lb turkey breakfast sausage
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups whole milk
1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Salt, to taste
Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
Warm biscuits, for serving
Instructions
1. Place the turkey sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook while breaking it into small crumbles with a spatula or wooden spoon.
2. Continue cooking until the sausage is fully browned and cooked through. Leave about 1 to 2 tablespoons of drippings in the skillet for extra flavor.
3. Sprinkle the flour evenly over the cooked sausage. Stir constantly for about 1 minute until the flour is fully absorbed.
4. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Add the crushed red pepper flakes if desired.
5. Cook the gravy over medium heat, stirring often, until it thickens to your preferred consistency.
6. Season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste.
7. Serve warm over freshly baked biscuits.
Notes
For extra flavor, add additional black pepper before serving.
Warm biscuits work best because they absorb the creamy gravy perfectly.
