Description

Golden homemade onion rings coated in panko breadcrumbs and fried until perfectly crunchy. An easy appetizer or snack ready in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

1 large onion, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rings and separated

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Vegetable oil, for frying

Salt, to taste

Instructions

1. Slice the onion into 1/2-inch thick rings and carefully separate the rings.

2. Place the flour in a shallow bowl.

3. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until smooth.

4. Add the panko breadcrumbs to a third bowl.

5. Coat each onion ring in the flour, shaking off any excess.

6. Dip the floured ring into the egg mixture, then coat it evenly with the breadcrumbs.

7. Place the coated onion rings on a plate and repeat until all rings are breaded.

8. Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a small saucepan or deep skillet.

9. Heat the oil to 375°F.

10. Carefully place a few onion rings into the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding.

11. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.

12. Remove the onion rings with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate.

13. Season lightly with salt while still warm.

14. Let cool for a few minutes before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Use panko breadcrumbs for the lightest texture.

Maintain an oil temperature of 375°F for the crispiest results.

Serve immediately after frying for maximum crunch.
