Description
Elegant toasted baguette slices topped with smoked salmon, lemon dill cream cheese, capers, and fresh dill. Perfect for brunches, parties, and holiday entertaining.
Ingredients
1–2 baguettes, sliced into 30–35 pieces (¼–½ inch thick)
Olive oil spray
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
Juice of 1 small lemon
2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
8 ounces smoked salmon, cut into portions
2 tablespoons capers
Fresh dill sprigs
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet in a single layer.
3. Lightly spray both sides of the bread with olive oil.
4. Bake for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the slices are crisp and lightly golden.
5. Remove from the oven and allow the crostini to cool completely.
6. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, lemon juice, chopped dill, crushed garlic, salt, and black pepper. Stir until smooth and evenly mixed.
7. Transfer the cream cheese mixture to a piping bag if desired, or use a spoon for assembly.
8. Place the cooled crostini on a serving platter.
9. Top each crostini with a piece of smoked salmon.
10. Add a small dollop of the lemon dill cream cheese mixture on top of the salmon.
11. Garnish each crostini with a few capers and a small sprig of fresh dill.
12. Serve immediately and enjoy.
Notes
For best texture, assemble just before serving. Toasted baguette slices and cream cheese mixture can be prepared ahead of time.
