Description
Tender beef meatballs simmer slowly in rich marinara sauce for a comforting Italian-American dinner that works beautifully with pasta, sandwiches, or warm garlic bread.
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
3/4 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
1/4 cup beef broth or water
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
24 ounces marinara sauce
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, bread crumbs, broth or water, Parmesan cheese, eggs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt until evenly combined.
2. Shape the mixture into 24 meatballs, about 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide.
3. Pour the marinara sauce into the bottom of a slow cooker.
4. Place the meatballs gently into the sauce, making sure they are nestled in evenly.
5. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or on high for about 2 1/2 hours, until the meatballs are cooked through and tender.
6. Serve with pasta, in sandwiches, or as a simple comfort-style main dish.
Notes
Do not overmix the meatball mixture to keep the texture tender.
Use a quality marinara sauce for the richest flavor.
Leftovers store well and taste even better the next day.
