Description
Crispy roasted chickpeas seasoned with tangy sumac, smoked paprika, garlic, and olive oil for an easy healthy snack.
Ingredients
2 (15-ounce) cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon ground sumac
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Rinse the chickpeas thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
3. Spread the chickpeas on a clean kitchen towel and gently rub them dry. Remove and discard any loose skins.
4. Transfer the chickpeas to a large mixing bowl.
5. Add the olive oil, sumac, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss until the chickpeas are evenly coated.
6. Spread the seasoned chickpeas in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
7. Bake for 45 minutes, shaking the pan after 15 minutes and again after 30 minutes to help them cook evenly.
8. Continue baking until the chickpeas are dry and crispy. They will become even crunchier as they cool.
9. Serve immediately, or store at room temperature in an uncovered container or lightly covered bowl for up to 3 days.
Notes
For maximum crispiness, dry the chickpeas thoroughly before seasoning and roasting.
The chickpeas will continue to crisp as they cool.
