Description
A hearty and comforting baked bean casserole made with ground beef, barbecue sauce, tender beans, and melted cheddar cheese.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
2 cans vegetarian baked beans
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the onion and bell pepper until the beef is browned and the vegetables are softened. Drain any excess grease.
3. Stir in the salt, black pepper, barbecue sauce, and baked beans until everything is well combined.
4. Transfer the mixture to a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish and spread it evenly.
5. Bake for 30 minutes. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the top, then bake for 5 more minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
Notes
For extra smoky flavor, use a smoky barbecue sauce or add a pinch of smoked paprika.
Allow the casserole to rest for a few minutes before serving for easier scooping.
