A rich baked pasta casserole with creamy parmesan sauce, tender pasta, and a golden cheesy topping perfect for comforting family dinners.
Ingredients
1 lb pasta (any shape except very small varieties)
1 tablespoon salt
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
5 tablespoons flour
5 cups milk
2 teaspoons chicken or vegetable bouillon powder
3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried parsley
Cooked chicken, turkey, beef, or seafood
Vegetables such as peas, corn, spinach, carrots, peppers, or broccoli
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper
2 cups shredded cheese
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Boil salted water and cook pasta until slightly firm. Drain and set aside.
3. Cook raw meat or vegetables with olive oil, butter, garlic, salt, and pepper if needed.
4. Add remaining butter and melt completely.
5. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
6. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
7. Add bouillon powder, parmesan, pepper, and seasonings. Cook until thickened.
8. Mix pasta with sauce and add-ins.
9. Transfer to baking dish and top with shredded cheese.
10. Bake for 25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
11. Serve warm.
Notes
Undercook the pasta slightly before baking for the best texture.
Use any combination of vegetables or proteins depending on preference.
Add a splash of milk when reheating leftovers to restore creaminess.
