Ingredients
8 beef hot dogs
8 hot dog buns
2 cups prepared chili
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 small red or yellow onion, finely chopped
Mustard
Ketchup
Relish
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with aluminum foil for easier cleanup.
2. Arrange the hot dog buns snugly inside the baking dish.
3. Add mustard, ketchup, and relish inside each bun if desired.
4. Place one hot dog into each bun.
5. Spoon about 1/3 cup of chili over each hot dog.
6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the chili dogs, then top with chopped onion.
7. Cover the pan loosely with foil and bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and everything is heated through.
8. Let the chili dogs rest for 5 minutes before serving. Carefully remove them with a spatula and serve warm.
Notes
Use thick prepared chili for the best texture.
Add jalapeños for extra spice.
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
