Sweet and Spicy Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Description

A bright, balanced dish featuring sweet heat, crisp lettuce, and tender ground chicken.


Ingredients

Lettuce leaves

1 lb ground chicken breast

1 large onion, chopped

2 tbsp minced garlic

1 tbsp minced fresh ginger

1 tbsp soy sauce

1/4 cup hoisin sauce

1 tbsp rice vinegar

3 tsp Sriracha sauce (more to taste)

8 oz chopped water chestnuts, drained

1 bunch green onions, thinly sliced

1 tsp sesame oil

Sesame seeds for garnish

Crushed peanuts for garnish (optional)


Instructions

1. Rinse and thoroughly dry the lettuce leaves; set aside.

2. Warm a large skillet over medium heat and cook the ground chicken, breaking it into small pieces as it browns.

3. Add the chopped onion and cook for about 2 minutes until it begins to soften.

4. Stir in the garlic and ginger, cooking for another 2–3 minutes until fragrant.

5. Mix in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and Sriracha. Allow the mixture to simmer for 1 minute.

6. Add the water chestnuts and simmer for another minute to blend the flavors.

7. Drizzle in the sesame oil and stir to combine.

8. When serving, fold in the sliced green onions and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

9. Spoon the warm chicken mixture into the lettuce leaves and finish with crushed peanuts if desired.

Notes

Adjust the heat level by adding more or less Sriracha. Keep lettuce leaves dry for the best texture.
