Description

Fresh homemade guacamole made with ripe avocados, lime juice, onion, cilantro, and chiles. This classic Mexican dip comes together in minutes and delivers bright, creamy flavor perfect for chips, tacos, and appetizers.

Ingredients

2 ripe avocados

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste

1 tablespoon fresh lime or lemon juice

2 to 4 tablespoons finely chopped red onion or thinly sliced green onion

1 to 2 serrano or jalapeño chiles, seeds removed and minced

2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro (leaves and tender stems)

Pinch freshly ground black pepper

1/2 ripe tomato, chopped (optional)

Sliced red radish or jicama for garnish (optional)

Tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

1. Cut the avocados in half and remove the pits. Use a spoon to scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.

2. Mash the avocado with a fork until it reaches your preferred texture, leaving it slightly chunky.

3. Add the salt and lime or lemon juice to brighten the flavor and slow browning.

4. Stir in the chopped onion, minced chiles, cilantro, and black pepper.

5. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed depending on the heat of the chiles.

6. If using tomato, gently fold it in just before serving.

7. Serve immediately with tortilla chips and garnish with sliced radish or jicama if desired.

8. If preparing ahead, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface and refrigerate up to 3 days.

Notes

Use ripe avocados for the best texture and flavor.

Mash with a fork instead of a blender to maintain a slightly chunky consistency.

Add tomatoes just before serving to keep the dip fresh and avoid excess moisture.

Press plastic wrap directly onto the guacamole surface if storing to reduce browning.
