Description

Crispy baked feta rolls wrapped in buttery phyllo dough with garlic, lemon zest, and fresh dill. Served warm with hot honey for a sweet and savory Mediterranean appetizer.

Ingredients

1 (8-ounce) block feta cheese

3 garlic cloves, finely grated

Zest of 1 lemon

1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped

12 sheets frozen phyllo dough, thawed

6 tablespoons salted butter, melted

1 tablespoon white sesame seeds

Hot honey, for serving

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Mix grated garlic, lemon zest, and chopped dill in a small bowl and spread evenly over the block of feta.

3. Cut the feta into 12 sticks about 1/2 inch thick.

4. Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and keep remaining sheets covered with a damp towel.

5. Brush half the phyllo sheet with melted butter and fold it in half crosswise.

6. Brush edges with more butter and fold long sides inward slightly.

7. Place a feta stick about 2 inches above the bottom edge of the dough.

8. Fold the bottom edge over the cheese and fold the sides toward the center.

9. Brush lightly with more butter and roll upward into a tight cylinder.

10. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

11. Repeat with remaining phyllo sheets and feta sticks.

12. Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

13. Bake for 15–17 minutes until golden brown and crisp.

14. Serve warm with hot honey drizzled on top or on the side.

Notes

Keep phyllo dough covered with a slightly damp towel while assembling the rolls to prevent drying.

Serve the rolls warm for the crispiest texture.

Chili honey can be used instead of hot honey for a slightly spicier flavor.
