Description

Crispy chicken, melted mozzarella, and rich marinara create the perfect handheld appetizer in these flavorful Chicken Parmesan Sliders.

Ingredients

1 package (about 26 oz) crispy chicken tenders or cooked chicken breast cutlets

12 slider rolls

4 tablespoons melted salted butter

3 garlic cloves, minced (or 1 teaspoon granulated garlic)

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

12 slices mozzarella cheese

1 cup thick marinara sauce, plus more for serving

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, divided

12 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

1. Cook the chicken tenders according to the package directions and let them cool slightly.

2. Heat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 12-by-8-inch baking dish. Slice the slider rolls horizontally and place the bottom halves in the dish.

3. Combine the melted butter, garlic, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.

4. Brush the bottom rolls with some of the garlic butter. Layer 6 slices of mozzarella over the rolls. Spread 1/2 cup marinara sauce on top, then arrange the cooked chicken evenly over the sauce. Drizzle with another 1/2 cup marinara and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon Parmesan. Top with the remaining mozzarella slices.

5. Place the top halves of the rolls over the cheese. Brush with the remaining garlic butter and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan.

6. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake 3–5 more minutes until the tops are golden and cheese is melted.

7. Cut along the roll lines with a sharp knife and serve warm with extra marinara.

Notes

Use chicken breast or nuggets as a variation.

Add fresh basil or pesto for extra flavor.

Broil for one minute for a crispier top.
