Description

A rich and creamy onion dip made with slow-cooked caramelized onions blended with cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise for the perfect party appetizer.

Ingredients

3 tablespoons olive oil

3 large yellow onions, thinly sliced

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup sour cream

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

1. Heat the olive oil in a Dutch oven or large pot over medium heat.

2. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 7 minutes, until they soften and turn translucent.

3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue cooking the onions for 10 to 15 minutes more, stirring occasionally, until they become soft, golden brown, and deeply caramelized. Let them cool slightly.

4. In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise until smooth and creamy.

5. Mix in the Worcestershire sauce and salt until fully combined.

6. Fold the caramelized onions into the dip with a spatula until evenly distributed.

7. Serve right away, or chill for 30 minutes for even better flavor.

Notes

Slowly caramelizing the onions is key to the deep flavor of this dip.

The dip tastes even better after chilling for 30 minutes.

Serve with potato chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.
