Description
Crispy oven-baked zucchini fries coated in seasoned breadcrumbs and Parmesan for a light but satisfying appetizer.
Ingredients
Cooking spray or lightly flavored oil
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large egg, beaten
3/4 cup plain breadcrumbs
1/3 cup finely grated hard cheese (Parmesan-style)
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Ground black pepper, to taste
1 pound zucchini, cut into 1/2-inch sticks
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and grease a baking sheet.
2. Mix flour, garlic powder, and salt in a shallow dish.
3. Beat the egg in a second shallow dish.
4. Combine breadcrumbs, cheese, herbs, garlic, salt, and pepper in a third dish.
5. Dredge zucchini sticks lightly in flour.
6. Dip each stick into the beaten egg.
7. Press each piece into the breadcrumb mixture.
8. Arrange coated sticks on the baking sheet in a single layer.
9. Bake about 20 minutes, flipping once, until golden and crisp.
10. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Lining the baking sheet with foil aids cleanup but may soften the crust slightly.
Using a preheated pan enhances browning.
Enjoy with marinara or a creamy dip for contrast.
