Description

A comforting baked dish made with hash browns, cheddar, turkey bacon, and a creamy custard for a golden, layered finish.

Ingredients

4 cups frozen hash browns

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

8 oz cooked and crumbled turkey bacon

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

12 oz evaporated milk

1 large egg, lightly beaten

1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning salt

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a square baking dish.

2. Spread half of the hash browns in the dish, then top with half the onion, half the cheese, and half the turkey bacon.

3. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.

4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the evaporated milk, egg, and seasoning salt. Pour this mixture evenly over the layered casserole.

5. Bake for 55–60 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.

6. Let the casserole rest for about 15 minutes before serving so the layers can firm up.

Notes

Use plant-based bacon and dairy-free cheese to create a lighter version.

Allow the dish to cool before cutting for clean slices.
