Description

15 Minute Sausage Meatballs deliver bold flavor fast with tomato passata, herbs, and tender sausage.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

1 tbsp olive oil
1.4 lb chicken or turkey sausages, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
3/4 cup low-sodium chicken broth (or water)
24 oz tomato passata (tomato puree)
1/2 tsp dried Italian herb blend
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
1 sprig fresh basil, leaves reserved for serving
Cooked pasta, polenta, or mashed potatoes for serving
Grated Parmesan for topping

Instructions

  • Warm the oil in a large nonstick skillet over high heat. Add the sausage pieces and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring often, until they are lightly browned but not fully cooked through.

  • Add the chopped garlic and cook for about 15 seconds, just until fragrant.

  • Pour in the broth and let it boil for 1 minute to reduce slightly.

  • Stir in the tomato passata, dried herbs, salt, red pepper flakes, and the basil sprig. Bring the mixture to a lively simmer, then reduce the heat to medium-high. Cook for about 4 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the meatballs are fully cooked.

  • Serve the meatballs and sauce over pasta, polenta, or mashed potatoes. Add fresh basil leaves and Parmesan if you like.
